Baltimore Ravens – Worth to Bet on?

Home » Baltimore Ravens – Worth to Bet on?

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off their first losing season since 2015 but things look bright for the Ravens, heading into the 2022 season. Lamar Jackson headlines a team that returns a number of key players from injury and has added a massive and talented draft class from the 2022 NFL Draft. John Harbaugh will lead the team for the 15th consecutive season, longevity matched by only two other teams in the NFL.

Team Introduction

The Ravens went 8-9 in 2021, finishing last in the AFC North, and missing the postseason for the first time in six years. However, there were a number of reasons why the Ravens failed to have their sixth consecutive winning season. No team in recent NFL history, had as many injuries as the 2021 Ravens. Running backs, JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards, who both tore their ACL’s within days of each other last season are both healthy and back on the field. The Ravens also made a whopping eleven selections in the most recent draft, including six picks in the fourth round alone.

The Team

The Ravens have filled holes all across both sides of the football in preparation for a bounce back 2022 campaign. Look no further than their incredible draft class and solid free agent signings to see how they have improved:

  • They needed secondary help so they added Marcus Williams from the Saints.
  • They wanted to shore up their offensive line, so they added right tackle Morgan Moses.
  • The Ravens drafted center Tyler Linderbaum out of Iowa and safety Kyle Hamilton from Notre Dame in round one
  • They grabbed pash rusher David Ojabo from Michigan in the second round
  • They got one of the steals of the draft, when they picked DT Travis Jones from UConn in round three.

One potential issue is that the Ravens were forced into trading their best wide receiver, Marquise Brown, after he demanded a trade, being unhappy with the Ravens run-heavy offense. 2021 first round pick Rashod Bateman will hope to pick up the slack as the team’s top wide receiver.

Baltimore Ravens Predictions

While the AFC North is traditionally one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, arguably the Ravens two fiercest rivals are both in flux this season. The Browns are dealing with a myriad of legal issue with their quarterback Deshaun Watson, while the Steelers are trying to replace their retired QB Ben Roethlisberger, who had manned the position for Pittsburgh for 18 years.

While the young Bengals are ascendant, the Ravens may have the most well balanced roster in the division, with Lamar Jackson surrounded by more talent than he has been in several years. Jackson will rely on star tight end Mark Andrews, the return of their top two running backs, and an improved offensive line, which should give Jackson more time to throw the football. On defense, the Ravens have arguably the best secondary in the NFL, with veteran safety Marcus Williams teaming up with exciting rookie Kyle Hamilton, as the team also has an excellent trio of corners in Marcus Peters, Marlon Humphrey, and Kyle Fuller.

We predict that the Ravens finish 11-6 this season, winning the AFC North, and will win at least one playoff game. After this season, the Ravens will have the massive issue of dealing with Lamar Jackson’s contract status, but that’s an issue for next year.
