Maryland as a Place-to-Go for Travellers
Maryland is a great place to visit for travelers who are looking for excitement and adventure. The state’s Inner Harbor is home to the National Aquarium, as well as a variety of other attractions, including the Maryland Science Center and the Maryland Zoo.
Travelers can also explore the state’s many historical sites, including the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, or take in the expansive waterfront vistas from one of Maryland’s many parks. Whatever your interests, you’re sure to find something to love in Maryland.
With these attractions, an estimated 42 million visitors go to Maryland every year which could increase the number of sports bettors in the state.
Maryland Sports Betting Rules for Visitors
Based on the law signed by Gov. Larry Hogan, the only requirement to bet while on the Old Line state is to be at least 21 years old. Maryland sports betting apps will use geolocation to confirm that the player is within the state.
A bettor may also note that athletes, coaches, and referees are not allowed to physically bet on Maryland. Even directors or employees of a sports governing entity. Here’s a list of other persons who can not place a wager:
- Persons owning at least 10% of a sports team.
- Persons having influence such as managers, coaches, or trainers of a team.
- Owner, officers, directors, and employees of sports betting license holders (like DraftKings or BetMGM). Even relatives living in the same household are covered in this prohibition.
Old Line State visitors at least 21 years of age could register early and evaluate odds and even cash in ahead of time. On the other hand, withdrawal can also take place even outside Maryland. The “within the state” requirement only applies to wagering
